ENHANCE THE USE OF THE PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE Annual Report 2014 77 SOCIAL FORUM The virtual space focuses on the interaction among students, disclosing curiosities and news on the lessons topics. During the course “Enhance the Use of the Portuguese Language”, the Technical Educational Tutoring Team, along with teacher Humberto Aragão, has shown a new approach in which students are more engaged in the process in order to arouse the interest on the topics covered in class and increase interactivity among participants. This action was carried out through the Social Forum, a virtual space for students’ interaction, disseminating curiosities and news on the topic. The content presented at the Social Forum was gathered from a research conducted by the tutoring team, in partnership with the teacher, complementing the students’ education. INTERNATIONAL VISIT GROUP OF JAPANESE RESEARCHERS VISITED EAD The focus of the meeting was to investigate the use of technology in education in the Brazilian context as well as the best practices in e-learning. A group of Japanese researchers, from Meiji University, visited the Ensino a Distância Rio Branco and the Faculdades Integradas Rio Branco to see the work developed by the institutions. The PhD teacher Mariko Nakabayashi, from the Commerce School; the PhD teacher Toshiyuki Miyahara; and teacher Tatsu Nakamura, both from the Division on Educational Support, got to know Rio Branco. The meeting was attended by the College general director, Edman Altheman; the academic director, Alexandre Uehara; the education coordinator of Ensino a Distância Rio Branco, Wagner Tadeu Mendes; Paula Cristiane de Oliveira and Luciana Stanich Torres, from EAD Rio Branco; and the Information Technology manager from Fundação de Rotarianos de São Paulo, Wagner Macedo. At the time, it was discussed some topics such as the distance learning available tools, electronic portfolio, suppor t systems, open education, open courses, infrastructure in Information Technology, among others. During the visit, the japanese group was accompanied by professionals of FRB and EAD
