Bichai Rattakul The first Rotary International President of Thai origin, from 2002/2003, Bichai Rattakul held severalpublicpositions,alsoholdingthetitleof Vice-PrimeMinisterofThailand. Usedtofacechallengesinhisprivatelifeandin political activities, the simple man who learned from his father the value of ethics, has always pridedhimselfinstartinghisprofessionallifein lower rank positions, which helped him to acknowledgethedifficultiesofthelessfortunate people. CalledtocooperatewiththeRotariancauseatthe age of 31, Bichai Rattakul was moved by the meaningofhelpingtheother,whichleadshimto create his motto “Sow the Seeds of Love”, indicating that all actions must come from the heart. During his passage by the Fundação de Rotarianos de São Paulo, he expressed his enthusiasm with the work which represents Rotary's actual ideal of Serving, materialized in severalinstitutionswhichassigntheirdedication andcompetenceforthebenefitofchildrenand teenagers'formation. Frank J. Devlyn Declaring himself an eternal student in his continuous search for possibilities and oppor tunities, Frank J. Devlyn, Rotar y International 2000/2001 President, provided Rotary with its successful businessman experience in the optical field. His motto was “Createawarenesstakeaction”. A bi-cultural man, raised on the border of Mexico andtheUnitedStatesheproclaimed,duringhis management, the relevance of advertisement, marketing and public relations, an engine that leveragesbusinessandlifeitself.FrankJ.Devlyn stimulated disclosure of successful Rotarian projects around the world, inspiring ideas and solutions related to several subjects, including education. During his two visits to the Fundação de RotarianosdeSãoPaulo,inoneofwhichhegave the inauguration lecture at the Faculdades IntegradasRioBranco.FrankJ.Devlynwasable totakealongtheexampleofaworkwhichproves that it is possible to educate, simultaneously, childrenprivilegedbyfavorablefinancialstatus, poor children from public schools, and deaf children.
