Children’s Week Children’s Week was celebrated through games, movie sessions, theater, dance and music, meetings with authors and picnics. The movie session “Uma Professora Muito Maluquinha” (A Very Kooky Teacher) carried the message of the role that teachers play in students’ lives for as long as they live. Children from 2nd to 5th grades showed their skills in a very creative talent show, singing, dancing and performing gymnastics and martial arts routines. Students from the Centro Profissionalizante Rio Branco (Cepro) presented the play “O Reino das Competências das Crianças” (The Kingdom of Children’s Skills), interpreted by puppets. Authors Rosana Rios and Fernando Nuno appeared for book signing sessions, and students from the 2nd, 4th and 5th got to have a valuable conversation with them on the creation of characters and plots. Pre-schoolers celebrated with a picnic. Story telling during the Children’s Week Mini-planetarium at Granja Vianna Shopping Center The School held an educational action at Granja Vianna Shopping Center, leading over 2000 people through an interplanetary journey, in a spectacle of colors, images, sounds and special effects, produced by a miniature planetarium. School held an educational activity at the Planetarium Leisure and Culture Street To celebrate the International Year of the Forests, instituted by the United Nations (UN), the school participated in the Leisure and Culture Street, an event that seeks to integrate the residents of the Alphaville region, in the city of Barueri, close to São Paulo. The school’s stand was decorated with typical Amazonian fruits and plants, reminding people of the rain forest, and visitors were greeted by a Guarani native and encouraged to do craft-work and to plan seedlings of several different plants. School remarked the international year of the Forests 61
