Middle East in the 21st Century Given the current theme of the political conflicts in the Middle East, the Colleges received teacher Uzi Rabi, director of the Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies, center of interdisciplinary research of the University of Tel Aviv, to talk about “Iran, Israel and the Arabs: the changes in the Middle East in the 21 century”. The lecturer discussed the events in the Arabian world which culminated with the fall of some authoritarian governments, highlighting the role of young people, social networks and the new emerging political forces. Teachers Samuel Feldberg and Uzi Rabi Crisis and Prospects: An Analysis of Obama’s Government The crisis which reached the United States of America was the theme of John O’Brien’s lecture, a former vice-president of the Democrats Abroad of São Paulo and teacher of History and Economics at the Saint Francis College, in São Paulo. The lecturer made a critical analysis of the country’s problems and Obama’s government. Fábio Chateaubriand, John Patrick and Guilherme Casarões Japanese Studies in Latin America - Trends, Prospects and Joint Projects The symposium ‘Japanese Studies in Latin America – Trends, Prospects and Joint Projects’, carried out at the Latin America Memorial with the support of the Faculdades Integradas Rio Branco, gathered teachers and researchers from several Latin American countries, the United States of America, Europe and Japan, among them, Teacher Dr. Shinichi Kitaoka, from Tokyo University, a former ambassador of Japan in the United Nations Organization (UNO) for a debate on the research that is currently being developed about Japan, in Latin America. President Pimentel participated in the meeting opening ceremony European Economic Conjuncture The teachers of the Faculdades Integradas Rio Branco, Rogério Luiz Buccelli and Demetrius Cesário Pereira, participated in the panel that discussed the European economic scenario, given Greece’s situation and the threat of disintegration of the block which comprises the European Economic Community (EEC).
