TALENTS FROM RIO BRANCO RIO BRANCO AWARD Acknowledging students’ good performance and their courage to overcome the obstacles is an essencial characteristic of the Colégio Rio Branco. This acknowledgment takes place annually during a traditional ceremony to award students, who have excelled in the School Performance categories (whose grade should be equal or higher than 9 in Elementary School and 8.5 in High School), Sports, Theatre, Monitoring, Social Responsibility and Cambridge. The event brings together students, directors, teachers, coordinators, family and friends. The award is granted to classes from the 3rd grade of Elementary School. In 2013, it was implemented the Academic Scholarship program that awards 50% tuition academic scholarships to the top three students from 6th to 8th grade and full tuition to the top three students from 9th grade on. All the awardees from High School 2nd grade will be able to RIO BRANCO TALENTS Special ceremonies acknowledged the students’ talents in several areas. Throughout 2014, the Colégio Rio Branco promoted different projects and contests so that the students could reveal and develop different talents. The school organized a special night for “Rio Branco Great Talents Awards”, in which students were recognized for their performance in the areas 34 Annual Report 2014 attend the Review Program and the 3rd grade student that was ranked first was awarded with a tablet. In her speech, the general principal, Esther Carvalho, explained that the Rio Branco Award acknowledges of Mathematics, Physics, Chess, Reading and Diplomatic Simulations. The winners received the following trophies: Rio Branco Chess Cup; 2nd Writing Contest in Mathematics named “Letter to Earth”; 7 th Chal lenge of Mathematics. Students who participated in the projects RBMUN Junior, 15th Model United Nations; and Harvard Conference for Latin America received certificates. Students of Physics Project and the Rio Branco awards acknowledged students the students’ effort, discipline and commitment to study as well as the families’ engagement with education. Rio Branco Great Talents awardees Hunger Readers contest were also acknowledged. The latter awarded those students, families and teachers who read more books from the Colégio Rio Branco library.
