EXTERNAL MEDIA ‘QUINTAL DA CULTURA’ TV School students recorded phrases in Brazilian Sign Language to be displayed at the TV show. 104 Annual Report 2014 INCLUDE PLAYING II Students and teacher participated in the video along with the characters of Sesame Street. Students from different grades of Centro de Educação para Surdos Rio Branco took part in the recording for the children’s TV show ‘Quintal da Cultura’, by TV Cultura. The participations were in Brazilian Sign Language. In some episodes, the ‘Quintal da Cultura’ characters stage stories and, by the end, deaf students from the institution teach words or phrases in Libras- Brazilian Sign Language. The children recorded phrases that are part of childhood and the TV show universe. TV Cultura and Sesame Workshop, in partnership with UNICEF and MetLife Foundation, produced the project “Incluir Brincando II”, to promote the integral development of children, promoting awareness of the right to safe and inclusive play. Videos are starred by the characters of Vila Sésamo - Big Bird, Bel and Sivan, a wheelchair doll, and with the participation of children with and without disabilities. The teacher from Centro de Educação para Surdos Rio Branco, Amarilis Reto Ferreira, and the deaf students, Leonardo Fukuda and Stefani Caroline Pereira Santos, participated in the shooting. CES INVESTED IN NEW EQUIPMENT The objective of the investment was to better serve students and give assistance to the development of the work. The Centro de Educação para Surdos Rio Branco invested in new and modern technological resources. The Computer Laboratory, the Support Center room and Audiovisual Studio received computers with larger screens and a Smart TV, besides Tablets and Full HD cameras. According to the CES director, Sabine Vergamini, changes enable the construction and record of pedagogical content and students’ production, as well as the development and production of teaching materials in Libras - Brazilian Sign Language, favoring information messages by the visual channel, through which the deaf can read the world in a complete and effective way.
