Anual Report 2011

Annual Report 2011 CENTRO PROFISSIONALIZANTE RIO BRANCO The Centro Profissionalizante Rio Branco (CEPRO) does more than prepare teenagers from low income families to enter the job market, through its Programa de Aprendizagem Profissional (Professional Learning Program) and its Programa de Aprendizagem Profissional para Surdos e Pessoas com Deficiência Física (Professional Learning Program for the Deaf and Disabled People); it also seeks to empower individuals to occupy a qualified space in society, offering knowledge and guidance with the purpose of personal and professional development. With regard to companies that hire apprentices, Cepro seeks not only to support and monitor them throughout all of the admission process and effective work period of the hired teenager, but also to show that this legal obligation, represented by compliance with the Lei do Aprendiz (Apprentice Act) and the Cotas para Pessoas com Deficiência (Act of Affirmative Action for Disabled People), is an opportunity for everyone to gain something from the singular features of each person. Cepro grew a lot in 2011, inserting apprentices in the job market, proving the trust that large corporations have in that institution’s mission. Cepro’s presence in the private, public and third sectors, contributing to the understanding and compliance with the Lei do Aprendiz, is a clear indication that society needs to debate in depth the manners of perfecting professional education processes and programs, in order to qualify low income teenagers for their first jobs, preventing them from falling prey to the harmful risks of idleness. The 2011 theme was “Manifestar virtudes para equilibrar ações” (Manifest virtues to balance actions) and its purpose was to emphasize the importance of job training and the attitudes and behaviors which, along with skills and abilities, determine the ideal profile of a job applicant. Cepro believes that humans become full citizens when they exercise a work function and Professional Learning programs, aimed at low income teenagers, the deaf and the physically challenged, are an excellent opportunity to raise awareness in them of the rights and duties that they have in society. 82
